HSF/ General College Scholarships

Application Deadline December 15, 2010

Program Description:HSF/ General College Scholarships are designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree. Scholarships are available on a competitive basis to:
 -Undergraduate Students
-Graduate Students

Award amounts generally range from $1,000 to $5,000.

Eligibility Requirements:
-Be of Hispanic heritage
-Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired)
-Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
-Have plans to enroll FULL-TIME in a degree seeking program at a two or four year U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam during the 2011-2012 academic year
-Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
-Be pursuing first undergraduate or graduate degree

Illinois Club Scholarship Awards, Deadline: December 1, 2010

The Illinois Club Scholarship Awards


Diverse and welcoming, The Illinois Club draws its membership from all areas of the University as well as the surrounding community. Although founded in 1906 as a faculty wives’ and women’s club, one quarter of its members are now men. Since 1917, The Illinois Club has provided financial support to worthy undergraduate students. We now award scholarships in excess of $20,000 each year.

Ikenberry Fine Arts $4,500
Purnell Education $2,000
Haney Social Work $2,000
Make-A-Difference $2,000

You must be a second semester sophomore or a junior as of the Fall Semester and have a minimum GPA of 2.75 to apply. Applicants are evaluated for all awards for which they are eligible. Awards are not gender-based. Applications are due December 1.

Scholarship: SMART

SMART is an opportunity for students pursuing an undergarduate or graduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines to receive a full scholarship and be employed upon degree completion at a Department of Defense (DoD) research facility. Scholarships awarded include a cash award of $25,000 to $41,000 a year, full tuition, required fees, health insurance allowance, and book allowance. SMART will allow individuals to acquire an education in exchange for a period of employment with the DoD. The program is intended for citizens of the United States and students must be at least 18 years of age as of August 1, 2011 to be eligible for an award.

This year's application will close at 5:00 PM EST on December 1, 2010.
