DOW-MIT ACCESS Program

The DOW-MIT ACCESS Program is hosted by the Departments of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering at MIT. It is a weekend-long symposium aimed to expose underrepresented minority students (sophomores, juniors, and seniors) to the benefits of a graduate education in the aforementioned research areas. This 3rd annual event, taking place on MIT’s campus September 30th and October 1st, is an interactive and informative symposium that has proven to have a lasting impact on its past participants.

Highlights:
  • What goes on behind closed doors?
A glimpse into the graduate admissions process from faculty and student perspectives
  • A day in the life of a science and engineering graduate student
      Interactive lab tours
  • Research 101 workshop
Discovering the research process with current graduate students
  • Two minute drills
Practice communication and presentation skills with feedback from MIT faculty
  • Oh the places we will go!
Explore Boston on a Duck Tour, dine on Newbury Street and experience this dynamic college town

Applications for the ACCESS Fall 2011 session are due July 1, 2011. All travel expenses, meals and hotel accommodations for students selected to participate in the ACCESS program will be paid by us. Participation neither obligates the student to apply for graduate study nor guarantees future consideration for study at MIT. ACCESS was made possible through the generous support of Dow Chemical Corporation. For more information visit http://access.mit.edu/ or email mit-access@mit.edu.
