CNT Energy, a division of the Center for Neighborhood Technology, is a creative think-and-do tank that combines rigorous research with effective solutions. Our organization concentrates on helping consumers and communities obtain the information and services they need to control energy costs and become more energy efficient. We use our cutting edge localized programs and research in the areas of dynamic electricity pricing, building performance, and regional energy planning.

Interactive Biomaterials REU at Syracuse Biomaterials Institute
2012 REU Program: June 4 – August 10, 2012

Syracuse Biomaterials Institute seeks applications from undergraduates interested in research on biomaterials: synthetic and natural substances to treat disease or injury.

Possible Research Areas: Students have the opportunity to do research in any of the following areas: Understanding bacteria-material interactions by surface engineering; Functionalization of biomimetic interfaces via engineered proteins; Control of Natural Polymers for Drug Delivery; 2D and 3D Active Cell Culture; Neurite Outgrowth on Substrates with Modulus Gradients; Smart Drug Release: Furanone release from a shape memory hydrogel; Electrochemical Atomic Force Microscopy of Cell-Surface Interactions

Eligibility:
Undergraduate students majoring in the following disciplines: Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or Physics with an interest in Biomaterials Science. Most Students will have completed their junior year, although talented students with less experience will be considered for acceptance in the program. Students must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Benefits:
All participants will receive a stipend of $5000, as well as University housing at no additional expense.

Illinois Cyber Security Scholars Program (ICSSP), Deadline to Apply:

Illinois Cyber Security Scholars Program (ICSSP) supports the last 2 years of undergraduat estudy in the fields of Information Assurance and Security at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Benefits:
-Value of the scholarship is approximately $30,000 per year.
-Tuition.
-Stipend.
-Funding for travel to participate in ICSSP activities.
-Internships in a Federal Government and/or National Laboratory setting.
-Guiding from ITI/ICSSP faculty advisors.
-Experience as an NSF research funding recipient.
-Research opportunities at ITI centers and laboratories.

Requirements:
-United States citizenship
-Full-time student status within two years of graduation in a coherent, formal program at Illinois that is focused on computer security or information assurance.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities
In Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Scholarships for $1,000 are available to undergraduates interested in exploring a research question related to entrepreneurial people, communities, organizations (corporations, startups or social enterprises), or the entrepreneurial environment.

Application deadline is March 29th, 2012.

Students can work with a faculty member on an existing research project or a new one, or develop their own research question.
