Global Engagement Summer Institute, Deadline: April 1, 2011

Greetings from Northwestern University's Global Engagement Summer Institute (GESI)!

GESI attracts the most passionate and capable students from across the country. Students have come to GESI from over 30 institutions, as varied as the University of California at Berkeley, Harvard University, and University of Minnesota -- as well as from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. We are interested in reaching students at your school who are committed to global change and seek a meaningful study abroad experience this summer. GESI is a unique opportunity to receive Northwestern credit while making a positive impact on communities abroad. I'd appreciate your help in spreading the word about this program on your campus.

Here are the GESI basics:

What: GESI students design and implement a community development project with their host community and a small interdisciplinary team of talented students from across the country.

Who: Any undergraduate or recent graduate seeking hands-on field experience with comprehensive academic preparation.

Where: Bolivia, Nicaragua, India, South Africa, or Uganda.

When: June 18- August 20, 2011.

Why: So many reasons!
• Meaningful cultural immersion through homestays
• Two full Northwestern course credits
• On-the-ground professional experience
• Lifelong friendships with passionate students from around the country

How: Complete our three-step application process online. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until April 1st, but some program locations may fill before that time.
