EBICS REU, Deadline: February 15, 2011

The Center on Emergent Behaviors of Integrated Cellular Systems (EBICS) is recruiting students to participate in their summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. EBICS is a newly funded NSF Science and Technology Center with collaborations between the City College of New York (CCNY), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT – lead institution), Georgia Institute of Technology (GT), Morehouse College, University of California at Merced, and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Illinois). The mission of EBICS is to create a new scientific discipline for building living, multi-cellular machines that solve real world problems in health, security, and the environment.

The REU is open to all undergraduates in any EBICS-related science or engineering field. The Center is especially interested in attracting students of color and women.

Some highlights of the Summer REU:
- 10 weeks of research at MIT, Georgia Tech, or University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
- $4500 stipend and allowance for travel, food and housing
- Mentoring and professional development
- Opportunity to interact with other REU students on all 3 campuses

The REU application and additional details can be found on our website: http://www.ebics.net/.
The application deadline is February 15.
