The Langley Aerospace Research Student Scholars (LARSS) Program is a paid, unique, and highly competitive research internship program for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). For 25 years, the LARSS program has helped to preserve U.S. leadership in engineering and science by providing exceptional students the opportunity to work with Langley researchers on some of the Nation’s most important, difficult, and challenging problems that require multi-disciplinary and collaborative solutions.
The 15-week fall session begins September 4, 2012, and ends December 14, 2012, and the application deadline is May 25, 2012.
Female students and under-represented minorities, first-generation college students, and
students from economically-disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility Requirements:

-Full-time student status at an accredited U.S. college or university

Engineering Biological Machines (EBICS) REU, Deadline to Apply: February 15, 2012
Get involved in the "Engineering Biological Machines" REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) this summer! The REU has locations at MIT, Georgia Tech, and the University of Illinois. This 10-week program is full time, offers a generous stipend and travel allowance, as well as all food and housing expenses.
By combining scientific and engineering methods, students can conduct reserach in these areas:

Cornell LSAMP Research Experience for Undergraduates; Deadline to Apply: March 1, 2012
The Cornell University Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP-R) is a summer research opportunity that provides undergraduate participants with the opportunity to work with distinguished faculty and staff as well as network with others in their field of interest through weekly luncheons. This program will take place June 3 - August 8, 2012.
Undergraduate students, interested in gaining a deeper understanding in an engineering-related field, have the opportunity to conduct and present research over a ten-week duration under the auspices of a Cornell Engineering faculty research mentor. Through this one-on-one partnership, participants will gain theoretical knowledge and practical training in academic research and scientific experimentation. CU LSAMP-R was developed to aid in the retention of traditionally underrepresented minority groups in STEM.
CU LSAMP-R offers participants:
-Approximately 10 weeks of research (June 3- August 8)
-A research stipend of $3,400
-A round-trip travel stipend up to $300 for students living outside of Ithaca, NY
-A double room in a residential hall
-A campus bus pass or a campus parking pass
-Access to state-of-the-art laboratories, libraries, computer/study lounges, etc.
Further, CU LSAMP-R participants have the opportunity to:
-Develop a meaningful research agenda and conduct research with a faculty research mentor
-Present a scientific research talk
-Design a research poster and discuss their poster presentation of their research at a symposium on campus and
-Submit a written report at the end of the summer research activity that may lead to a publication

Fiesta del Sol has given over $700,000 in scholarships to 450 students.

-Be of Latino/Hispanic descent, and live on the Southwest side of Chicago, between 16th to 79th streets, and between Cicero Ave., (4800 West) and Canal (500 West), OR Be a volunteer at PNCC;
-Be enrolled at an accredited college or university in an undergraduate degree-seeking, or certificate program, OR be a Senior in High school, accepted to an undergraduate, degree-seeking or certificate program;
-If in college, be enrolled for a minimum of at least 6 semester hours in the 2011/2012 school year or its equivalence;
-Have earned a cumulative minimum of a 2.5 GPA (on a 4-point scale or its equivalence) Demonstrate community or school service;

Through this program, scholars will gain theoretical knowledge and practical training in academic research and scientific experimentation. The SU LSAMP research program was developed to aid in the retention of traditionally underrepresented groups in the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
What are the benefits?-$3300 research stipend

Columbia Engineering is honored to host the first annual Engineering Achievers in Graduate Education program (Columbia Engineering EngAGE).
