MERGE Graduate School Program, Deadline: September 19, 2011
INTERESTED IN GRADUATE STUDY? APPLY FOR A FREE TRIP TO UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS
In an effort to increase the diversity of its graduate student body, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is offering a no-obligation, expense-paid campus visit to promising engineering, physics and chemistry students who are preparing for graduate study. The trip is sponsored by the Multi-Cultural Engineering Recruitment for Graduate Education (MERGE) program. This year's MERGE program will be held on Oct. 21 & 22, 2011 with travel on Oct. 20 & 23. Complete information on the MERGE program, including application instructions can be found on the website www.engineering.illinois.edu/merge.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and be enrolled in (or have recently completed) an accredited curriculum in engineering, physics or chemistry. CIBER Competition
Attention Students!
Experience a different take on case competitions! BP and the Center for Professional Responsibility in Business and Society are proud to announce a new competition for the fall 2011 semester that puts students in cross-disciplinary teams to examine ethical and professional responsibility issues. The students who are selected will get the unique opportunity to tour the BP trading floor and oil refinery during the competition. There will also be cash prizes for the winning teams.

At the same time, however, we realize that some flexibility in team organization may be necessary to best accommodate the skill sets and academic backgrounds represented by those who apply to participate in this competition.

POWER READING COURSE
The POWER READING COURSE is designed to help students improve their reading speed, concentration, comprehension and productivity. This is a non-graded, non-credit, twelve session course that meets for 50 minutes on a M-W or T-TH sequence. Sessions will be available twice a semester. Books and materials will be provided. A materials fee of $15.00 will be assessed each student.

The Foundation Scholarships, Deadline: March 2, 2012
The Foundation expects to award 80 scholarships of up to $5000 and 50 honorable mentions of $350 to sophomore and junior level college students committed to careers related to the environment, tribal public policy, or Native American health care.
Scholarships are offered in any of three categories:
-To students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment; or
-To Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy; or
-To Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to Native health care.
To be eligible, students must meet all of the following criteria:
-Be committed to a career related to the environment, OR committed to a career in tribal public policy OR Native American health care.
-Only Native Americans and Alaska Natives are eligible to apply in tribal public policy or Native American health care.
-Native American students studying tribal public policy or native health do not need to demonstrate commitment to the environment.
-Likewise, students pursuing environmentally related careers do not need to be Native American, nor do they need to demonstrate commitment to tribal public policy or Native health.
Meet the following requirements:
- Have a college grade-point average of at least a "B" or the equivalent.
- Be pursuing full-time study during the 2012-2013 academic year.
- Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or U.S. permanent resident.

The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation awards merit-based scholarships to college students who plan to pursue careers in government or elsewhere in public service. Truman Scholars receive up to $30,000 for graduate or professional school, participate in leadership development activities, and have special opportunities for internships and employment with the federal government.
Each nominee for the Truman Scholarship must be:
