Cambridge, often called "Boston's Left Bank" is home to MIT, one of the world leaders in engineering education. If you're a strong engineering junior or senior, and member of a group that's underrepresented in engineering, MIT invites you for a visit in November to learn about graduate programs. CONVERGE is one of MIT's special programs dedicated to increasing diversity in graduate school. For more information read below. Please note: Application deadline is August 31st.
The CONVERGE mission is to increase the presence of underrepresented and underserved students in MIT's graduate programs. To achieve this goal, CONVERGE hosts a four-day graduate school preview weekend on the MIT campus during the fall. Briefly, the program:
•Selects candidates who form a strong, talented applicant pool
•Exposes selected students to MIT's graduate programs, facilities, and campus life
•Connects participants with MIT faculty, staff, graduate students, and other CONVERGE students involved in the graduate school admissions process
•Covers all expenses for the preview weekend
Participants are selected by MIT faculty and invited to campus to learn about the Institute and graduate student life. Successful applicants are notified by email inviting them to attend the CONVERGE fall weekend.
Program features
•Advice from MIT faculty, staff and students, including feedback on application materials
•Information on graduate student life
•Graduate admissions session with department admissions chairs
•Tours of MIT campus and the Boston/Cambridge area
•Meetings with faculty and department visits

•Complete the CONVERGE 2010 online application
•Use CONVERGE background and resources as useful reference material
